Coole Music Youth Orchestra

Coole Music Youth Orchestra (CMYO) was founded in the autumn of 2006 with fifteen young string players. From there it has more than doubled its numbers and developed a mature orchestral sound comprising strings, woodwind and percussion. The orchestra rehearses every Saturday at Gort Community School and has a wealth of original and entertaining repertoire on offer, ranging from Vivaldi to Shostakovich and from film music to newly composed works. Always open for collaborations, CMYO have worked with young orchestras from Germany and Sweden over the years and every summer the young musicians join up in the residential OURchestra summer camp with their peers from Athenry Youth Orchestra. CMYO features regularly at the Coole Music Orchestra Festival, the Annual Gala Concert in Kinvara, Castalia Hall in Kilkenny and is delighted to play at the IAYO Festival at the National Concert Hall for the second time.
